Eastbourne Borough boss Garry Wilson has finally got his man after signing former Albion midfielder Paul Armstrong from crisis club Crawley.

Borough have snapped up the Irishman along with Allan Tait, Jay Lovett and Pat Harding.

Wilson came close to signing Armstrong when he returned to Sussex from Scotland in 2003 following a spell at Airdrie but was thwarted by Crawley.

He was again unsuccessful in a bid to lure the 28-year-old last April after Reds were hit by financial problems.

Wilson said: "Paul is a player we have wanted for a long time and we are very pleased to have finally got him.We were just about to sign him when he came down from Scotland but Crawley heard about it and disrupted negotiations."

Tait joins after a frustrating season playing Conference football with Canvey Island, where he was mainly used as a substitute.

He was Crawley's top scorer with 12 goals during their first campaign in non-league's top flight in 2004-05 and had prolific spells at Folkestone and Deal.

Lovett has switched from Conference south rivals Lewes and Harding has made the jump from County League Hassocks.

Harding scored 112 goals in 164 appearances for the Robins and was the league's top scorer last season with 24 in 28 games.

The signings follow the arrival of midfielder Duncan McArthur from Hastings.
