Mark Robinson believes Sussex's title-winning experience could be vital as they chase a second Championship in four seasons.

The county are back on top of division one after defeating Yorkshire by an innings and 25 runs at Arundel yesterday, although Lancashire are almost certain to regain top spot today with victory over Middlesex.

The gap would be six points but Sussex are now 24 points clear of third-placed Hampshire which suggests a two-horse race when Championship action resumes in three weeks.

Robinson said: "We have a lot of players in our dressing room who have done it before, they know what it takes to perform and win the tight matches.

"We feel very confident. Losing to Lancashire was a blow but it's very rare these days that we produce two bad performances in a row and I was delighted with how we performed.

"Chris Adams and Murray Goodwin set it up for us and we showed a lot of discipline when we bowled yesterday. To take ten wickets in just over two sessions on that pitch showed a lot about the character of our side."
