Crisis club Crawley expect just two players to turn up for pre-season training today.

Reds are due to report back following the summer break but it is unclear how many of last season's squad will return.

They have not been paid for two months and administrators are trying to thrash out a survival package to save the debt-ridden Conference club.

All the players can issue a 14-day notice to leave after having their contracts breached and many have taken advantage of that.

Only players' union representative Dave Woozley and winger Tony Scully have confirmed they will return.

With the fixtures due to be published this week and the first pre-season friendly a week Saturday, manager John Hollins admits the situation is bleak.

He said: "We don't know who is going to turn up. We have asked around and a couple say they will be in and some have said they don't know.

"We will only find out when we get there. There will be people there to train because we have young players who played in the reserves last season coming and players who phoned to ask for a trial.

"There are loads of kids as well because when I first came we set up a trial day which got cancelled and we will be looking at those who didn't get a chance then.

"I have no idea what skills and talent these people have. It is going to be interesting."

Crawley have already lost four players to other clubs after Ian Simpemba and Jamie Cade joined Lewes, Paul Armstrong went to Eastbourne Borough and Danny Ekoku to Gravesend.

Eight more have either come to the end or have been released from their contracts - Leo Mendy, Danny Brown, Neil Jenkins, Sacha Opinel, Steve Burton, Scott Ward, Omari Coleman and Gavin Gordon.

Reds must have 11 players registered by July 29 otherwise they will face a heavy fine from the Conference. Hollins said: "Gordon and Coleman have both gone and Mendy's contract is finished and he is now back in France.

"Brown's contract is finished, we think Burton has gone but we don't know, Ward has gone and Opinel and Jenkins have served 14-days notices.

"All these players can walk back in if they want to but they will probably go off and find other clubs."

As well as the players, Hollins' future also remains in doubt as he is working without a contract.

He said: "I don't know what is happening with the administration. We will come in but we don't know our position yet.

"As far as I know I am still the manager. I am working on the basis of just waiting to see what happens.

"I think we have done a good job but the administrators are independent and we are now on the outside. We will train whoever turns up and all you can say is that it's a challenge."
