Regarding letters in The Argus on July 15 about council tax. A Brighton and Hove City Council spokeswoman states it is its duty to pursue non-payment of council tax.

Why, then, can't it do the same for council tenants who do not pay their rent? Some say the council is owed in the region of £3.5 million.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

Many pensioners struggle to pay their rent while far too many get away without paying for years.
