The Prime Minister has announced that the General Election will be held on May 6.
Mr Brown, accompanied by his cabinet stood outside Downing Street to make the announcement.
The announcement came after a 20-minute meeting with the Queen at Buckingham Palace to seek the dissolution of Parliament.
