This undated picture is of St Nicholas, the mother church of Brighton, in Dyke Road.
Unlike many other city centre churches, St Nicholas is flourishing and has a lively congregation.
It is worth visiting for its handsome interior which includes a Norman font. Many famous people are buried in the grounds.
They include Captain Nicholas Tettersell, who took Charles II safely to France when he was fleeing Britain, Phoebe Hessel, who joined the Army disguised as a man, and the dipper Martha Gunn who helped people enter the sea from bathing machines.
