A PARK and ride scheme planned for the Brighton Marathon on Sunday will not be running.
Marathon organisers had intended using Brighton Racecourse to provide a shuttle link to the start at Preston Park.
They were offered 450 places with a £5 charge per place.
Race director Tim Hutchings said: “ As our total charge to the runners, per car, is only £5, and we need that money to try and at least partly pay for the cost of the park and ride scheme, we couldn't afford to agree to that.
“It is hopefully something we'll look at again for year two."
ALternative park and ride schemes at university and Southern Water sites have more than 3,000 spaces between them.
