A man is seriously injured in hospital after being struck by a car.

The 21-year-old from Seaford was hit by the car on the A259 between Seaford and Eastbourne in the early hours of yesterday morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 2.48am, after a Vauxhall Vectra driven by a 47-year-old man from Newhaven crashed into the pedestrian. The victim was taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital with multiple injuries, which were not thought to be life threatening.

Sussex Police are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or may have seen a pedestrian walking west towards Seaford around that time to contact 0845 6070999 quoting Op Harwood.
