A Japanese student was raped at a party while another man watched, a jury was told.

The 28-year-old woman, who had been drinking, claims she was attacked after she started vomiting and was taken by two men to a dark room with mattresses on the floor.

She claims after Columbian Camilo Martinez, 27, raped her the second man, Kin Jaemin, 25, attempted to rape her.

At a trial at Lewes Crown Court Jaemin, of Vallance Gardens, Hove, who is from Korea, denies attempted rape.

Martinez, of York Road, Hove, has admitted rape and will be sentenced at a later date.

Karen Holt, prosecuting, told the jury the victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, went to the party in Connaught Road, Hove, on the night of June 26 last year.

A group of foreign students, who were studying English in the UK, gathered to say goodbye to a friend returning home.

She said at the end of the party the victim was taken to the room by the two men where Martinez raped her.

Miss Holt said: “That act of rape was watched by the defendant.

“When Mr Martinez had finished with her, he said to Mr Jaemin ‘I am finished’ and then Mr Jaemin took over.”

She said Jaemin was unable to have sex with her and she fell asleep.

Miss Holt said afterwards the woman was angry and upset. She felt ashamed as she blamed herself for drinking too much.

Miss Holt said: “The Crown says she was incapable of consenting to sex because she had drunk too much.”

After revealing what happened to friends she went to the police.

When Jaemin was arrested he told police he had fallen asleep and woken to find Martinez having sex with the woman.

He said he felt sad because he could not protect her.

The trial continues.
