An artist has chosen to celebrate the life of her father with a collection of his work.

Leonie Braddick has organised an exhibition of her late father Sam Fenton’s watercolour paintings, which depict Sussex landmarks.

Mr Fenton was a well-known character in the area and could often be seen on the beach with his easel and in cafés with his sketch pad.

His paintings, which include scenes of Brighton beach and the Sussex countryside, will be on show as part of Artists’ Open Houses at 11 Solway Avenue, Patcham, over the next three weekends from 11am to 6pm.

Mrs Braddick said: “It has been nine years since my dad passed away and when my mum died last year she left me all his paintings.

“I thought this would be a lovely opportunity to display his life’s work.

“He moved to Brighton in the 1940s from London so many of the scenes from Brighton and Hove are quite historic.”
