FOUR ducklings were rescued from a drain in the road by firefighters.

It is thought the birds fell through a grate while they were following their mother at Patching Roundabout, near Titnore Lane, in Clapham, near Worthing.

Drivers and passers-by were alerted by the distressed adult duck as it waddled in the road.

The fire brigade were called at about 8.45pm on Wednesday.

Tony Brown, Worthing crew manager, said: “The four ducklings were successfully rescued and married up with their mother.

“We lifted the drain cover up and put the ducklings in a bucket and put them in a field with their mother.”
