Last week saw reports that former Young Ones and Bottom star Adrian Edmondson has given up on comedy – and that his heart hadn’t been in it for the last decade. But there’s a certain amount of tongue-in-cheek to his new musical project, with The Bad Shepherds.
The band, which features uillean pipes virtuoso Troy Donockley and fiddler Andy Dinan, play classic punk songs from 1976 to 1982 in a folk style, combining Ade’s two passions. As he puts it: “I’ve always thought the excitement of a reel taking off is the nearest thing to the excitement of watching punk live in the 1970s.”
