Thank you for the most interesting article about the Brighton mayoral car number plate being worth £150,000, with Councillor Simson’s statement that, “getting best value from our assets does not necessarily mean selling them off” (The Argus, May 5).
Isn’t Brighton run by a Conservative council? Are they not guided by the principles of Margaret Thatcher? Did she not sell off our national assets like gas, electricity and our telecoms? Who sends your gas, electric or phone bills now? A 100% British company? Who do we pay our rail fares to? A British company? Are you trying to get a council house and can’t? Why can’t you? Oh, there aren’t any council houses available. Why?
