In response to the letter “Pay the price” (Letters, April 30): of course we knew we were not getting an increase in every part of our pensions.
If one reads the booklet included with the letter telling us what our pension will be in 2010 – sent in March/April – then one will know what the total pension will be.
Pensions are increased each April by the percentage rise in the Retail Prices Index in the 12 months leading up to the preceding September, so the figure was based up to September 2009 – and this was a negative figure.
Just think what pensioners have received in the past 13 years. Free bus travel, heating allowance and free TV licences for over 75-year-olds.
Some people are never content.
