It is intolerable that Guildford Ice Arena, in neighbouring Surrey, now needs to issue a one-year waiting list for ice skating coaching. Even this wait will not necessarily guarantee a place for training.
ITV’s Dancing On Ice has generated a demand for ice arenas all over Britain. The need in Sussex remains. If you are a would-be ice skater in Sussex you have to dream on and remain inactive in your chosen sport unless you are willing to travel.
Keep Sussex Skating appeals to Brighton and Hove City Council for a temporary ice rink for the city and the ice skaters in Sussex.
Please will the city planners of our popular seaside resort and get their skates on, sooner rather than later, to answer the injustice of an agonising cultural need. Supporters can contact KSS at keepsussexskating@ ntlworld.com
