The Roaring Twenties will come to Patcham shortly as the Barnstormers Group from the Methodist Church prepare for their opening night of Thoroughly Modern Millie.
Patcham will be transported back to 1922 to follow the exploits of Millie Dillmount when she arrives in New York in pursuit of marriage. However, her quest is not entirely noble as she intends to marry for money, not love.
The show’s Producer, Bert Etherington, said, ‘It’s a great show, set in the twenties at the time of the Modern Movement – when women really started standing up for themselves. The show is full of music, singing and tap dancing so it will definitely be a lot of fun’.
The group, which is open to everyone regardless of ability or experience, has entertained residents since 1992 with productions such as Aladdin, Robin Hood and Fiddler on the Roof.
The show will open on 20th May at 7.30pm with shows following on the 21st and 22nd. Tickets cost £6.00 although concessions are available for children and families. Interested readers should contact Jean at the Box Office on 01273 502293.
