Both Brighton Festival and Fringe have smashed last year’s ticket sales.
Bosses of both organisations announced the news as the events came to a close.
While a number of fringe events will continue this week, including the Meadowlands Festival in Glynde at the weekend, the festival is over for 2010, with the exception of one extended show.
Before I Sleep by dreamthinkspeak at the Old Co-op in London Road has been extended until June 13, due to its popularity.
Half of the 4,000 extra tickets have already been sold.
