Glorious triumph is often only a whisker away from disaster – and that was exactly where Natty found himself on Tuesday.

An hour into this outstanding show the Londoner collapsed, while singing Coloured Souls, and had to be helped from the stage by concerned bandmates, his head bowed and long dreadlocks hanging heavily.

It was a worrying sight for a crowd who were visibly loving the performance, which had blended tracks such as Bedroom Eyes from his first album with potent new songs like No Justice from the Things I’ve Done EP being sold for charity on www.pledgemusic.com.

Only moments earlier Natty had been swept up in an emotional performance of Say Bye Bye, a tale of a small boy coming to terms with his father walking out, which had drawn huge applause.

The only louder cheer came when he re-emerged from the side of the stage minutes after his collapse, sipping water and attempting an excuse about not eating properly on tour.

He launched courageously back into action, his distinctive Dylan-esque lyrics and reggae beats seemingly unaffected, and finishing the set emphatically with tracks Coldtown and July.

This was a great display of Natty’s considerable talents.
