What a strange letter from Ken Strudwick (Letters, June 7).

I thought the general election was fought on the issue of the enormous national debt and the urgent steps needed to safeguard the national economy. However, Mr Strudwick seems to think the burning issue we voted on was hunting.

I am sure most people, like me, never thought about hunting at all when casting their votes.

His comments about us being peasants and the gentry now being in control seem to indicate his mindset is lodged in the 19th century.

Politics in the 21st century has moved on, Ken.
