Forget strippers, L-plates and pole dancing.

Wannabe pop stars can now glam it up to star in their own music video in a VIPstyle hen-do taking Brighton and Hove by storm.

Go experience is offering brides-to-be and their friends the chance to steal the spotlight working with industry professionals in a film studio to shoot a video and lip sync along to their favourite song.

The venture, based in Church Street, Brighton, was set up by Richard O’Brien, 41, and Hannah Lee Weller, 36, of Windmill Street, Brighton, and has gone from strength to strength since the company formed four years ago.

Head of marketing and operations Rachael Hamilton said: “People are looking for something very different to do when they want to get a group of people together and have a laugh. There is a lovely atmosphere and the energy in the film studio is amazing.”

Before the day, the groups are encouraged to choose a song and are sent the lyrics so they can learn the words.

Ms Hamilton said the 1980s is currently a popular theme with Girls Just Want To Have Fun by Cyndi Lauper a common choice.

“Single Ladies by Beyoncé is also very popular with the hen groups and some go crazy with a full-on leotard,” she added.

“Some of the groups really go all-out, which is amazing.”

Bride-to-be Jodie Newland, 37, from Church Green, Shoreham, who took part in the Go popvideo experience at a Brighton studio, chose a Native American fancy dress theme and Salt-N-Pepa’s Push It as her song.

“It has always been a dream of mine to dress up like that for the whole day,” she said.

“I would absolutely recommend it to anyone. We were all in our late 30s and we thought that it might be a bitmuch for us or it might be for a younger crowd but it wasn’t, it was an absolute scream. It was just the best day ever.”

Creative director Mr O’Brien said: “We have seen it all over the last few weeks in Brighton, from hens dressed as Native Americans to stags performing a scene from Rocky. Every working week is different and every event has its own twist and we can’t wait to see what happens next.”

Each group is sent a full edited DVD as a memory of the day.

Go experience activities would also work for birthdays or team-building events.

Mr O’Brien and Ms Weller have produced professional entertainment shows for fashion, events holiday companies and theatres since 2000.

Go popvideo is available for children’s parties and birthday celebrations.
