A BBC TV presenter was taken to hospital after injuring herself during the Worthing Birdman.
CBBC’s Holly Walsh suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder when she jumped in with Rambo, alias Joel Hicks.
Mr Hicks surfaced almost immediately but it soon became clear something was wrong when he ducked back under the water to pull Miss Walsh to the surface.
Mr Hicks said: “The jump seemed to go fine. I don’t know anything more.”
Rescue boats were on the scene within seconds and gently lifted Holly, who was crying out in pain, from the water.
A woman who helped her onto a stretcher said she appeared to have dislocated her elbow.
