I’m one of the footsore masses to indulge myself in the pointless but very enjoyable sport of running.

When I return home from my daily run, more often than not I have to make sure the soles of my expensive running shoes aren’t caked with the deposits left by the dogs I have to share the pavements and country walkways with here in Newhaven and surrounding areas.

At the end of Beach Road there is a narrow ash path leading to the bridge, which scales the railway tracks.

Once over the bridge, a small trail runs adjacent to the railway lines and ends up at a bridge spanning the river Ouse. Over this bridge there is a swathe of land that has been adopted by irresponsible dog owners. Their manure machines litter the paths with small, stinking swirls.

There is obviously no attempt by dog owners to clear up this disgusting mess.

There must be some attempt to put an end to this and uphold the bylaws, which cover dog fouling in the area.
