I believe all readers will share my sadness at Adam Trimingham being diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. I congratulate Adam in writing about this.
I believe it is beneficial for a well-known person to go public with what many regard as a taboo subject. I admired the late Ronald Reagan and his wife Nancy when they were diagnosed with dementia and breast cancer respectively, raising public awareness for these diseases.
The publicity is good for highlighting the condition, fundraising and letting sufferers know they are not alone. Adam’s column stimulates debate and conversation, which is always healthy. I do not agree with everything he writes but I like his willingness to tackle subjects which are controversial and not politically correct.
I have lived in Brighton all my life therefore I am always interested in his comments and historical articles which appear in The Magazine on Saturday.
So good luck, Adam – and keep writing!
