Hundreds of people will arrive in the city tonight in preparation for a mass demonstration at a controversial factory.

Activists under the banner of Smash EDO have said they want to “lay siege” to the EDO factory in Moulsecoomb, Brighton in “a final push to shut it down”.

Campaigners, who claim the plant makes parts for weapons used by Israel’s army in illegal military action in Gaza, are arriving in the city throughout today before they mass outside the plant tomorrow (WED).

Despite numerous requests from Sussex Police, the group have still not spoken to officers about their plans, which are being dubbed “Hammertime”.

A spokesman for the group said: “The aim is to lay siege to the factory and shut it down for the day.”

When asked if the protest would head towards the city centre, the spokesman refused to comment.
