A £50 million boost and hundreds of new jobs will be created by a new supermarket development.
The deal to bring Sainsbury’s to Bognor has finally been completed after the secretary of state approved the development on the former LEC site on Shripney Road.
The move is expected to provide 400 jobs and at least £900,000 of funding directed towards regeneration of the town.
The £50 million development, which was backed by more than 1,000 residents’ letters, has been welcomed by councillors.
Arun District Council leader Gillian Brown said: “The regeneration of this contaminated site will bring important jobs, skills and training into the town, as well as acting as a catalyst for future investment.”
