Further to the article “Sometimes it’s hard to be a man” (The Argus, October 8), the most extreme example of this is what goes on day in and day out in the UK’s family courts. When a couple separate, mothers are not only given the power to divorce their partners from themselves, they are also given the power to divorce their children from their fathers.

This is cruel and damaging to both children and fathers. The previous government appeared to be entirely content with this state of affairs. There are encouraging signs that the Coalition intends to reform it.
