Children as young as ten are developing eating disorders serious enough for them to have to be admitted to hospital.
New figures show 70 people across Sussex needed hospital treatment in one year after complications caused by problems including anorexia and bulimia.
Eighteen of these were aged between ten and 14 while another 27 were between 15 and 19-years-old.
However the figures are believed to be just the tip of the iceberg as they focus on the most critically ill patients.
Many more are treated at home or in the community without needing to be admitted for help.
