A man who was seen walking through the centre of Brighton wearing a wetsuit and carrying a harpoon has been arrested.
Sussex Police confirmed that a 30-year-old man from London had been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
A spokeswoman said: "The man was seen walking down North Street, Brighton around 8.45am wearing a wetsuit and carrying flippers, a harpoon and a small knife.
"The man told officers he was on his way to the beach to do some fishing."
He is currently in custody awaiting interview.
