Political hopefuls took to the streets to try to win support.
Three prospective Labour council candidates went door-knocking in the Queen's Park ward of Brighton and Hove on Saturday.
The party lost its three seats to the Greens in 2007.
Dan Chapman, Chris Cooke and Tom French were joined on the doorsteps by the new Shadow Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, Meg Hillier MP.
