Detectives say they have made the biggest ever cannabis seizure in Sussex.
Cannabis worth up to £9 million was found at a house near Heathfield on Friday.
Two people have been charged with importing the drug.
Sussex Police's serious and organised crime unit found 1.8 tonnes of cannabis resin in a metal container at Little Theobalds, Sandy Cross, near Heathfield, at 5pm.
A spokesman said the unit had "followed up information" which led them to the house.
Paul Stevens, 44, of Little Theobalds, and Tracey Massey, 47, of Station Road, Hailsham, have been charged with being concerned in the importation of the cannabis.
They are due appear at Eastbourne Magistrates Court today.
A 37-year-old man who was also arrested in Hailsham has been released on bail without charge until January 27.
