Michelin-starred chef Raymond Blanc plans to open a new restaurant in Sussex.

The French chef plans to follow in the footsteps of other celebrity restaurant owners including Jamie Oliver, Heather Mills and Dermot O'Leary and open up shop in the county.

Mr Blanc's latest restaurant is due to open next month in The Square, Chichester, and the Gallic gastronome has said he is looking forward to foraging for local delicacies with locals.

Mr Blanc is famous for his two Michelin star hotel, Le Manoir aux Quat' Saisons near Oxford, which he opened in 1984, but his Chichester restaurant will be more relaxed and offer his mother's favourite fare.

The chef said that the 125-seater restaurant would be simply decorated with wooden floors and a terrace where diners can eat al fresco in the summer months.
