A SECLUDED spot on the outskirts of St Albans was the scene for a passionate encounter on the BBC's flagship soap EastEnders this week.

The tryst between characters Ryan Malloy and Stacey Branning, screened over Monday and Tuesday, was filmed in October at Tyttenghanger Quarry near Colney Heath, an area popular with walkers and birdwatchers.

Little of the illicit liaison on the bonnet of a Morris Minor, with their child Ryan in the back, was left to viewers' imagination within pre-watershed rules.

Shane Weedon, who manages the quarry complex for Lafarge Aggregates and Concrete, said: "It was certainly a different Saturday morning than we are used to at the quarry.

“The crew were filming for around four hours and it did cause quite a stir - a number of colleagues came along to watch what was going on.

“Everyone was really nice though, especially Lacey Turner, who plays Stacey who I had a chat with.

“And I was lucky enough to get some autographs sent through to me later.”

In November last year the wedding between EastEnders characters Bianca Jackson and Ricky Butcher was filmed at St Peter's Church in St Albans city centre.
