The festive season will be a busy time of year in one household, with two Christmas babies in the family.

Jane Gluckstern, whose birthday is on Christmas Eve, gave birth to daughter Clelia at just before 6am on Christmas morning in the Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton.

The Hove resident was due to give birth on December 15 and went into labour four days before she gave birth to her 7lb 2oz daughter.

It was Jane's first child and she said she and husband, Jarle were both delighted.

She said: “I was not expecting her to be born on Christmas Day but I'm very happy. I am a Christmas baby too so it will be a special time of year for us.”

Jane, who is originally from Italy but has lived in Sussex for ten years, said: “I love the way Christmas is celebrated in England and I'm looking forward to sharing that with my daughter.”

Clelia was one of the three babies born on Christmas Day at the Royal Sussex.

Aptly named Hollie Cagney gave birth to a daughter weighing 7lb 10oz.

Sue Huey and Graeme Fraser also had extra cause to celebrate, with the arrival of a baby boy weighing just under 7lb.

At the Princess Royal Hospital in Haywards Heath Kay and Carl Macnaughton, from Horsted Keynes, celebrated the birth of baby Lydia at just after 5am.

There were eight new arrivals at Worthing Hospital, with four girls and four boys. Meanwhile at Conquest Hospital in St Leonards two boys and two girls were born.
