A teenager with a rare ageing condition is starting to grow again after responding well to pioneering treatment.
Hayley Okines, whose body is ageing eight times faster than normal, has put on almost 5lb to tip the scales at three stone.
She has also grown two inches taller and now stands at 3ft 7in.
Hayley, 13, is one of only two children in Britain and 53 in the world to suffer from Hutchinson-Gilford progeria syndrome.
It means she is trapped in the body of person who would be 104-years-old.
Hayley has been on two clinical trials in America to try and slow the progress of her condition and her family are planning to fly out to the US again in February to get the latest update on her progress.
Hayley’s mother Kerry said: “Things are going very well at the moment. The fact that Hayley is growing and putting on weight is a very positive sign."
