A petition has been launched to ask Brighton and Hove City council to tackle illegal car parking in Baker's Bottom.

The issue was raised at a meeting of the Local Action Team last November.

Local PCSO Carol Manton then organized a letter for all the residents in that area. More than 35 responses were made, which formed for the basis of a petition to Brighton and Hove City Council.

In order to ensure that the strength of feeling on this thorny issue is felt, local activist Chris Cooke has posted an e-petition on the council website on the same lines.

It reads: "We, the undersigned , petition the council to consider the introduction of double yellow lines at the junctions of Rochester/Livingstone St, Bute/Livingstone St and Hendon/Livingstone St in the area commonly known as "Bakers Bottom."

Local pedestrians also object to being forced onto the road by inconsiderate pavement parking on the corners.
