I see that John Stanaway has returned again to the subject of Southern operating direct services from west of Brighton onwards to the east without the necessity of changing trains (The Argus, January 19).
Whilst there might be a case for this to happen from a convenience point of view, why does he not consider the delay to other services operating on the Brighton to London line as a result of trains crossing?
I spoke to Southern quite recently following the introduction of the three-car ex-London suburban stock (without toilets) on other local services. Unless Southern has changed its mind there appears to be no prospect of the service envisaged by Mr Stanaway being introduced.
Perhaps Southern might be invited to comment on Mr Stanaway’s suggestion.
