A man died when his car left the road and smashed into a wall.
The man, in his 60s and from East Sussex, was pronounced dead at the scene of the collision in Bardown Road, Stonegate, at 10.45am yesterday.
A Sussex Police spokeswoman said: “Emergency services, including the Kent Air Ambulance were called to the scene, but the man, in his 60s and from the area, was declared dead at the scene. It is believed that he may have suffered a medical episode shortly before the crash.
“Local road closures were put in place while rescue and recovery work took place. They reopened around 2.30pm.”
An air ambulance report said the man, driving a Jaguar, suffered a cardiac arrest and despite attempts to resuscitate him he died at the scene.
