A restaurant is relocating to a site which has been vacated by two successive businesses in the last two years.

The Chilli Pickle, currently based in Meeting House Lane, Brighton, is moving to the vacant space in myhotel in Jubilee Square.

The previous tenants, Table, left in October while Aldo Zilli’s restaurant closed in April 2009 after just nine months at the site.

But Alun Sperring, owner and head chef of the Indian restaurant, said the history of the site will not put him off.

He said: “At the moment we are turning people away because we don’t have the room.

“At myhotel we’re going to have the space to play with and be able to do all the things we have been wanting to do, as well as keep doing the things our customers expect from us.”

The restaurant’s last day at Meeting House Lane was on Monday, and it will open at the new location in early March.

Mr Sperring said: “We have had a great time over the last two and a half years and we’ll be taking some wonderful memories with us.

“But now is the time to move on and the new space is perfect for us. We looked around at a lot of other places and this one seemed perfect.”

The new venue will allow Chilli Pickle to offer 115 covers, up from 50 at their current home.
