Sussex passengers believe their train service is among the worst in the country, according to a new survey.

Yesterday railway watchdog Passenger Focus announced nationwide record levels of customer satisfaction.

However the three rail companies that serve Sussex were ranked in the bottom four in the country.

First Capital Connect (FCC) was voted the worst operator according to the National Passenger Survey, which questioned 31,000 people on their experiences.

Only 76% of the FCC passengers surveyed rated the service as satisfactory or good, compared to a national average of 84%.

Southeastern’s satisfaction rating was just 80%, with Southern recording 82%.

In comparison, Wrexham and Shropshire recorded the highest rating of 96% in the autumn 2010 survey.
