UPDATE: A 17-year-old girl has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after an elderly pedestrian died today.
The man suffered serious injuries and died at the scene of the collision in Gravelye Lane, Lindfield, near Haywards Heath.
The crash took place around 11am.
A police statement said: “The circumstances of the crash are still being investigated, but it involved a car and an elderly male pedestrian, who suffered serious injuries and was later pronounced dead at the scene.
“Police have arrested the 17-year-old female driver of the car on suspicion of causing by death by dangerous driving and she is currently in police custody.
“Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact Sussex Police on 0845 60 70 999 quoting Operation Dunbury.”
