An entertainment venue could return to one of Brighton and Hove's most iconic outdoor sites after it remained empty during last year's fringe festival.

Bosses of Brighton Festival Fringe are considering plans from a number of promoters to stage events on the Old Steine throughout May.

The prime site stood empty last year after the Parlure Spiegeltent announced it would not be returning to the festival, blaming financial issues after making a loss at the event in 2008 and 2009.

However fringe staff are now looking at a number of proposals for the site before they approach Brighton and Hove City Council for approval.

An idea is also being considered for The Level.

But no plans have yet been submitted for the St Peter's Church site.

However organisers say it is still not too late for ideas to be put forward.

To submit a proposal contact Jess Huffman, fringe operations manager, on jessh@brightonfestivalfringe.org.uk or 01273 764900.
