Firefighters were called to a suspected blaze at Arundel Castle.
However, when they arrived they learnt it was a false alarm.
The fire alarms at the castle went off at 5.30am today and crews from Worthing station raced over.
A firefighter said: “There was a problem in the system which caused them to be set off.”
