With regard to the story “Veteran’s hip operation cancelled ten times” (The Argus, January 26): I wonder if this will happen in the future if GPs have the purse strings.
A lot of criticism is aimed at the American health care system, but with their system if you get poor service from one part, you move your business elsewhere. If the GPs have control over their money, the cancellations will stop because hospitals will lose the business, with possible loss of jobs.
