I woke feeling weary at 6.20, with a bit of knee ache. The early rain had luckily stopped by 7.20 when I set off and cycled to Brighton station. I caught the train to West Worthing, and cycled to the office. Another busy day, but I managed to leave at 5.30 as I had a hot date tonight, and cycled back to the station to see the tail lights of a train leaving.

One of the few annoying things about the coastway trains is that there is a long gap between 5.50 and 7.00 for a straight through train from West Worthing to Brighton. So I caught a Victoria trian and got off at Hove instead. I rode home, and did a quick turnaround - supper, old bike out of shed, warm clothes, ticket, scarf - and pedalled off again to Withdean Stadium.

Unlike poor old Plymouth Argyle, Brighton and Hove Albion never actually went into administration, but we were down in the doldrums for years. Six or seven years ago, Plymouth came to play us on a very special day when every club in the football league supported Brighton's fight for survival via Fans United. They were incredibly generous off the pitch but clinically efficient on it. Today we paid them back and won 4 nil - it could have been 6 or 7.

I cycled home, remembering how clanky the old bike is - probably why it never gets stolen. My knee is still aching. 14 miles today, luckily only 8 miles on the Brompton tomorrow.

Today I received some pictures of the children we are raising money for, and my fundraising has peaked at £2,100. Please click HERE to learn more about why I'm doing this and to see my sponsorship progress. Every single pound makes a huge difference. Thank you.
