I went to the live music event in Steyne Gardens, Worthing, on a Saturday evening recently and I must say it was excellent entertainment.

However the toilet situation was absolutely sickening.

There were ladies' toilets open on the seafront but the men's were shut and there were no other alternatives on offer.

When I walked past I saw men had actually resorted to lining up outside the seating area behind the toilet block, which was being used as a makeshift urinal.

Usually, I would find this type of behaviour completely unnecessary.

However, it appeared they had little choice. There is no excuse for a pre-organised event of this nature not to be fully facilitated.

To make matters worse, when I went down the seafront for a walk the next day, this shelter was being used by families with small children.

How are they to know it had been used as a toilet the night before?

If, for some reason, the normal amenities for men were out of order, should alternative arrangements not have been supplied in some way, shape or form, even if it meant arranging something with a local hotel?

As I said, I did have a highly enjoyable time, but the memory of the event has been tainted by this abysmal sight.
