A man required 12 stitches to the back of his head after being attacked in a nightclub.

The 24-year-old victim from Eastbourne was attacked by another man outside the club’s toilets.

Police, who have released CCTV footage of a man they want to talk to, are treating the incident at grievous bodily harm.

The incident occurred in the Atlantis Nightclub, Eastbourne, at around 2.30am on Sunday and the victim was taken to the Eastbourne District General Hospital for treatment.

Detective Constable Sheila Nicholson said: "The victim is still very distressed and I would appeal to anyone who was in the Atlantis Nightclub between 2am and 2.40am and witnessed the assault to please come forward.

“The identity of this man is urgently sought, given that he was in close proximity to the victim when the incident occurred. We would like to talk to him in order to eliminate him from our enquiries."

The man in the CCTV footage is described as white, in his early 20s, with short dark hair and had a muscular build. He was wearing a short sleeved, light coloured t-shirt and jeans.

He left the club with a woman who had long blonde hair and was wearing a short white skirt.
