They hope to go from silver screen to at least silver anniversary and that the credits will never roll on marital bliss.

Carolyn Silkowski and her partner Chris Layzell, 31, were so determined to get married at the historic Duke of York’s Picturehouse in Brighton that they are buying the 100-year-old venue a wedding licence.

The couple, from Rosehill Terrace, Brighton, have planned a premiere ceremony with popcorn canapés and 50s style Hollywood outfits for June 11.

They are sending out movie poster-style invites including a synopsis of how they met and when the big day finally arrives and cameras are ready to roll they will walk down the cinema aisle and get married on the stage in front of the silver screen.

Miss Silkowski, 30, who is on maternity leave from being a teacher after giving birth to baby Rose in September, said: “We’re not film buffs but it’s a building we love and we think it is relaxed and fun and we wanted to do something different."
