He will forever be thankful for their life-saving skills.
Motorcyclist John McRae broke his neck after crashing through a caravan at 60mph.
The 40-year-old had to be resuscitated at the roadside after suffering a crushed lung plus a damaged liver and kidneys.
Mr McRae, of Southdown Road, Portslade, was airlifted to hospital following the crash on the A24 near Arundel and slowly but surely made an amazing recovery.
He is so grateful to the doctors who saved him he decided he wanted to give something back.
So, along with his friend Pete Long, he vowed to bike from Land’s End to John O’Groats in just 24 hours to raise money for the Sussex Air Ambulance.
They will set off at noon on Good Friday and plan to stop off at ten petrol stations along their journey.
