A heavy storm caused chaos as towns and villages were hit by flash flooding last night.
West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service dealt with 20 calls from homes and businesses in the Bognor area in the space of half an hour.
One of the first calls was at around 10.30pm when a cellar at the Royal Oak Pub in Chichester Road was flooded.
In another incident lightning hit a private detached garage in Saxon Close, Pagham, and started a fire.
A nursing home in Hastings Close, Bognor, had to call out the brigade after water started coming in through the roof.
A brigade spokesman said: "It all happened in the space of around 30 minutes with calls coming in from across quite a large area.
"We were pretty busy for a while and had to keep moving from one incident to another."
