A sportswear company has been told to remove a sign from its high street shop.

JD Sports has been told to remove the sign from its shop in North Street, Chichester, a 19th Century listed building.

The company has been ordered to remove the sign, which is painted black and has raised white acrylic lettering, by the Planning Inspectorate following Chichester District Council's refusal of planning permission.

Inspector Terry Emm said: "Although the appeal sign is comparatively subdued its acrylic material, modern design and disproportionate size to the fascia make it unsuitable."
